History

Montcalm School officially began operation in 2000, but it is a program of Starr Commonwealth, a nearly 100-year-old organization that has provided services to children and families all over the world.

At Montcalm School, we believe “there’s no such thing as a bad child.” This phrase, coined by Starr Commonwealth Founder Floyd Starr, lays the foundation for all of the work we do at Montcalm School.

Montcalm School is backed by a nearly 100-year history of excellence

Montcalm utilizes a strength-based treatment philosophy, a proven model of positive youth development pioneered by Starr Commonwealth that is aimed at seeing the good in every child.

Montcalm School has access to Starr’s wealth of knowledge and expertise in helping children behaviorally, academically and socially.

Our organization is fortunate to employ many of the leaders in the field of strength-based treatment, including experts in providing trauma-informed and resilience-focused care.
